AC Crusaders and Philadelphia Fever FC Gearing Up to Kick-Off 2012 Season

Washington Twp, N.J. (May 9, 2012) - The AC Crusaders and Philadelphia Fever minor-league soccer teams will kick off their 2012 seasons on Sunday, May 20 at Washington Twp High School in Sewell, NJ. The event will be a double header and includes the Crusaders playing Junior Lone Star FC (Philadelphia) at 5:00 p.m. and the Fever playing New England Mutiny at 7:30 p.m.

The Fever will play in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Elite League’s inaugural season as an NCAA-compliant team. The WPSL Elite league represents the highest level of women’s professional soccer in America. It was formed as a response to Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) decision to suspend their 2012 season.

The new league includes two former WPS teams, Boston Breakers and Western NY Flash, as well as the Chesapeake Charge, Chicago Red Star, FC Indiana, New York Fury, New England Mutiny and the Fever.

Head Coach, Stuart Gore and 1st Assistant Coach, Jaime Scott will lead the fever through their first ever season.

“It’s been a real challenge getting everything sorted out in time for the season opener due to the WPSL Elite League being formed on such a short notice,” said Gore. “We are the only NCAA-compliant team in the new league so our recruitment strategies have been a bit different than what the other teams are doing.”

The Crusaders return for their second season of National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) action. They hope to improve on their 6-3-3 inaugural campaign in the Northeast Region’s Keystone Conference. In 2011, the Crusaders’ home games drew an average attendance of 1,500 fans.

The NPSL Keystone Conference includes Buxmont Torch (PA), Eagles FC (NJ) , FC Sonic (PA), Junior Lone Star FC (Phil.), Morris County Colonials (NJ), Pocono Snow (PA), and the Crusaders.

Atlantic Soccer Factory President, Matt Driver will coach the Crusaders and Nenad Gorgiev will serve as 1 st Assistant Coach.

The Crusaders and Fevers are affiliates of Atlantic Soccer Factory (ASF), a soccer education and training company operating throughout the Delaware Valley.

ASF Owner and President Matt Driver’s mission is to promote local soccer from the youth levels through college soccer and beyond by establishing a vertically-integrated player development program.

“Every great Pro will tell you that growing up, they idolized and tried their best to emulate aspects of older players’ game.” Said Driver, “ These teams are built on local talent and will provide local soccer players a “Home Team” to strive to play for and an opportunity to receive the national exposure they will need to take their soccer careers to the next level.”

Tickets are $7 for youths and $9 for adults.
