AC Crusaders Fall to Morris County Coloinals

Madison, New Jersey (May 30, 2012)- The AC Crusaders fell again, for the second time in a week, this time to the Morris County Colonials. These days the Crusaders have no good fortune. The Crusaders lost in a big way, not only did the score line read 4-1 in favor of the opposition, but four Crusader playmakers were injured.

The Crusaders started the first half easily showing that they were the better team in the contest. Moving the ball and getting many opportunities, it looked to be a long night for the Colonials’ defense. However it all changed twenty-five minutes into the match. Veteran center back, Jerrit Thayer went in on a hard tackle and came away with an ankle injury. Thayer tried to continue playing to allow a substitute to warm up, yet in the ensuing five minutes the Colonials were able to take advantage of the situation and net two goals.

The score of 2-0 was carried into half time, with the Crusaders visibly shell-shocked.

Having refocused at the break the Crusaders came out in the second half with more energy and regathered the composure they had at the beginning of the contest.  As the half continued the referees seemed to continually miss blatant fouls against the Crusaders. The missed calls began to accumulate and the Colonials soon started to injure Crusader players. Adam Sternberger was blindsided by a tackle that may not even be permissible in the NFL. Nico Tramontana was then tackled in the ankle spikes up. Through all of this the Crusaders received not one favorable call.

With a makeshift lineup the Crusaders were able to pull one back, while playing a man down, with a goal from Adam Williamson.

With only three defenders in the backline, the Colonials found it easier to move forward and progress towards the goal. After several corner kicks, and shots on goal, the Colonials finally found the open man from the mismatch, for which the Crusaders had no answer.

The Crusaders look to get back on track Wednesday June 6th at the Buxmont Torch at 7pm.
