Matt Driver – Head Coach

A true pioneer of the game, Driver has been a visionary and architect behind some of the nation’s most successful soccer programs here in the US, both at the Youth level and Professional levels on and off the field. From developing and implementing age appropriate training curriculums for both the players and clubs, to implementing and creating various national league structures where soccer clubs and their players can continue to flourish.

To that end, Matt has been appointed the Technical Director for the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), which currently has 45 minor league teams across the country. The NPSL’s mission is to raise the level of play on the field and to increase awareness for players who have the potential to move on to bigger and better opportunities within the game.

As owner of the AC Crusaders, Driver created a true vertically integrated player development program. This program creates a pathway where players can be developed from youth players to professional players without ever having to leave their local club. By accessing club neutral programs like Atlantic Soccer Factory, players receive supplementary training to what they are already receiving at the Youth Club, High School, College levels.

Matt is a former Founding Partner, General Manager and Head Coach of the Philadelphia Independence and was the First Assistant Coach with the MLS’ New England Revolution. He took the Revolution from last place in the Eastern Conference to Eastern Conference Champions. They then went on an amazing run in the MLS Cup, only to lose out to Los Angeles in a thrilling, overtime Championship game in front of 62,000 screaming fans at Gillette Stadium.

A former professional player with Bury Football Club, formerly of the English Third Division, and Burnley Football Club, formerly of the English Fourth Division, Driver also enjoyed a stint with S. C. Herford, formerly of the German Bundesliga’s Second Division. In addition, he played in the United States with the Albany Capitals and the Boston Bolts, both of the American Professional Soccer League.

The Glasgow, Scotland, native also served as Technical Director and Chief Operating Officer for the South Jersey Barons.
