AC Crusaders Come From Behind To Beat NJ Blaze, 5-3.

South Brunswick, N.J. ( June 12, 2011)— AC Crusaders’ forward, Jeremy Ortiz, scores a hat-trick and leads his team to a come from behind victory over the NJ Blaze.

The Crusaders got off to a rocky start and gave up a goal three minutes into the first half. The Crusaders couldn’t find their defensive form early in the game and fell behind, 2-0 after only 15 minutes.

Desperately needing a goal, Neal Melchionni received a pass from Billy Sweetra and scored to cut the Blaze lead in half. Melchionni’s 25 th minute goal put his team back into the game and the Crusaders ended the first half down, 2-1.

The Crusaders played much better during the second half. They came out strong and five minutes into the half, Ortiz scored the first of his three goals from an Adam Sternberger Assist.

The Blaze was reluctant to lose this game without putting up a fight in front of their home fans. They scored a 60 th minute goal to put the Blaze ahead, 3-2.

The Crusaders once again turned to Melchionni and Ortiz to find an equalizer. The two hooked up in the 73 rd minute, Melchionni assisted on Ortiz’ second goal of the game and the Crusaders found themselves back on level terms, 3-3.

Ortiz didn’t take long to complete his hat-trick. Just ten minutes after scoring the equalizer, Ortiz put the crusaders ahead 4-3 after scoring an 83 rd minute goal, assisted by Eddie Campbel.

Crusaders’ forward, Rodney Aguirre scored an insurance goal in the 89 th minute to preserve his team’s victory.

A few short minutes later, the referee blew his final whistle and the visiting Crusaders beat the Blaze 5-3. The Crusaders’ season record improved to 5-3-3 after the thrilling come from behind victory.
